Careers

Hawkins operates fuel tanker combinations in B-Doubles, Double Road Train, AB Triple, Triple and Quad combinations.  To operate these vehicles, you are required to have a Multi Combination licence that is for a geared vehicle – we do not have automatic gearboxes.

Licences required :

  • MC Licence (Manual)
  • Safe Load Pass
  • Dangerous Goods Licence
  • Coal Board Generic Pass
  • Fatigue Management
  • Medical Certificate

If you do not have all of these licences, we are happy to assist with this training. You will be required to repay any training that is for your personal benefit however we offer payment over time to reduce the stress on your wallet.

New employees undergo a detailed induction program. This is normally conducted prior to you starting your duties as a driver.

Once you commence work, there are still many specific inductions that must be completed before you are able to deliver product on your own.   This includes but is not limited to:

  • Inductions to Oil company terminals – Oil Company viewed loading to gain a terminal pass. This is required for each oil company separately and may take some time to be signed off.
  • Inductions to all mine sites that you will be delivering to. Inductions can take from between 2 and 10 hours to be completed and may require travelling to the mine to undertake this training.

The training is long and detailed, patience is required here as we have to work in with oil companies and mine sites – the end result is that you will be trained to deliver product to many different sites.

We operate 24 hours per day and 7 days per week in most locations. This means you will be on a roster that requires you to work day shift,  night shift and weekends. Depending on the location, there will be either two or three drivers operating one combination.  It is our practice to have the same drivers working together in the same vehicles rather than swapping vehicles, other than for servicing.
